Child Protection Emergency Service
The CFPU is the child-protection arm of the Uganda Police Force, and in various districts. It serves as the primary formal institution tasked with handling child and family-related issues — including abuse, neglect, custody, domestic violence, and other threats to children’s welfare.
When a complaint is made, the CFPU records it, investigates, and may mediate between parties or refer serious cases to court under the national laws protecting children.
The goal of the unit is to ensure children’s safety, uphold their rights, and provide a pathway for justice or protective intervention when children or families are at risk.
